PPAPP Agency Optimizes RPTRA through SAPA Post

Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency collaborates with TP PKK to optimize Child-Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRAs) and Family Information and Consultation Center (PIK) to become Women and Children Companion (SAPA) Post.

It is done to follow up Regional Strategic Activities No. 13 as an effort to prevent and handle violence against women and children

This post can be initial reference for families living near RPTRA to get communication, information, and education services about violence.

Thus RPTRA's function will also develop as means of education, initial referral and a place for consultation to address various life problems, especially for women and children.

Realizing Family Resilience, Jakarta Government Launches Family Service Center (PUSPA)

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati mentioned, previously, RPTRA was developed as a place for Family PIK activities, which is a flagship activity of Pokja I TP PKK Jakarta. But now, its function will be optimized for SAPA Post.

"It is done to follow up Regional Strategic Activities No. 13 as an effort to prevent and handle violence against women and children. Therefore, RPTRA not only serves as PKK laboratory, but also the implementation of KLA which strengthened by educational forum and initial referral service for violence against women and children," she said, Wednesday (10/20).

She explained that empirical data collected through Integrated Service Center Unit for Children and Women Empowerment (P2TP2A) was based on violence victims who reported their cases. While the number of victims who didn't report is still unknown.

"By optimizing RPTRA and Family PIK through SAPA Post will bring the service closer to the community. Thus it will make it easier for people to access the service and encourage them to report when they hear or experience violence," she stated.

PPAPP Agency, she continued, also provided training for RPTRA administrators and Urban Village POKJA I cadres throughout Jakarta on handling cases, conducting assessment on victims and providing referral if there were cases that couldn't be handled at SAPA Post.

"Technically, 1,936 RPTRA administrators will provide assistance at 323 SAPA Post. Each SAPA Post will be accompanied by six administrators," she mentioned.

On the other hand, TP PKK Jakarta Chairperson, Fery Farhati appreciated PPAPP Agency's efforts in preventing and dealing with violence against women and children.

She hopes Integrated Welfare Service Post which synergized with SAPA Post could encourage more people to report violence cases.

"This post acts as initial step to prevent violence and discrimination against women and children and provide a quick response to violence acts," she closed.
